      - Customs and Duties

      The recipient will be held responsible for international shipments which may be subject to import duties and taxes. Please be advised that these charges are levied by the destination country and we do not have control over them. In the case that the recipient refuses to receive the parcel, the order will be returned to Korea and will not be re-shipped. Relevant expenses (round-trip shipping, customs, etc.) will be deducted from the refund.
  • Returns & Exchanges
      1. Requirements:

      Please take into consideration that we accept qualifying returns but not exchanges. Refunds are issued once the returned products clear our inspection.

      1) An item is eligible for cancellation if:
      -you posted a Return request within 24 hours of payment and your order is still under “Pending” status (if your order is under “Queued for Shipment” status, please contact our customer service center) or
      -the order is delayed for more than 10 days since payment and you have not received any notification regarding the delay; or
      -the ordered item is out of stock.

      2) We accept return(s) if:
      -you are returning due to change of mind(on size, color, etc.)
      -you receive a product different from your order; or
      -you receive a defective product.

      **Return Instructions
      (1) Post a return request on our Return forum within 7 days of receipt. You are required to attach photos of the received product(s) and include the item code, order number, and reason for return.
      (2) A customer service representative will be in contact to assist you by email
      (3) Items returned must be in their original condition, which includes tags and any packaging. Please make sure to include a note of your order number, name, and user ID.

      *Please be advised that returns are accepted ONLY IF you followed the instructions above and your return request has been approved by our staff. Returns that are shipped to us without any prior consent are not accepted.

      *Please note that EVEN defective/incorrect item(s) must be returned with all of the tags and labels intact. The item(s) must be sent unworn and in the original packaging.

      *Please include all contents of the original package and free gifts (if applicable) in your return package.

      *Return shipping fees for faulty/wrong orders will be paid for or reimbursed. If the Cash-On-Delivery option is not available for your EMS shipment,
      scan the return receipt and either mail it with the item to return or post an image of it on the forum. The shipping fee will be refunded once the returned item has arrived.

      3) We do not accept return(s) if:
      -you are returning shoes, bags, or any other accessories
      -the products are damaged due to customer mishandling
      -your return request is not approved by our staff

      The following items are not considered defective:

      * Items that are originally manufactured without tags or labels
      * Items with creases that may have been made during shipment
      * Items with unsatisfactory/incomplete finish due to mass production

      4) If there is a missing item from your order:

차이킴은 입고 싶은 한복이다.

명절이나 특별한 행사 때뿐 아니라 평상시에도 기꺼이 입고 싶은옷, 그냥 한복이 아니라 사람들이 원하고 열망하는 ‘패션’이다. 전통 맞춤 한복을 짓던 ‘차이 김영진’의 김영진 대표가 기성복 브랜드 차이킴을 론칭한 것은 2013년. 전통에만 머물지 않고 자유롭게 한복을 디자인하고 싶다는 바람과 100년 이상의 역사를 이어가는 브랜드를 만들겠다는 의지에서 시작했다.


“내가 없으면 맞춤 한복인 ‘차이 김영진’은 존재하지 않겠지만 차이킴은 달라요. 계속해서 후대의 훌륭한 디자이너, 크리에이티브 디렉터가 그 가치를 이어가고 사람들에게 사랑받는다면 유서 깊은 브랜드가 될 수 있는 것이죠.”


김영진 대표의 말대로 차이킴은 기성복 브랜드로 그 성격을 분명히 한다.

전통 한복을 기본으로 하지만 과감한 디자인과 자유로운 소재의 사용, 섬세한 디테일로 평소 입는 옷에 매치해도 잘 어울린다. 한국적인 선과 정서, 전통 복식의 요소는 오히려 디자이너의 개성과 아이덴티티로 여겨지며, 패션 그 자체로 경험된다. 사실 한복은 15세기부터 18세기까지 시대에 따라 형태가 계속 변해왔으며 짓는 방식도 집안마다 달랐다고 한다. 반드시 어떠해야 한다는 정해진 표본이 없기 때문에 김영진 대표 역시 그동안 꾸준히 공부해온 출토 복식을 토대로 자신만의 세계를 펼쳐나갈 수 있었다. 옛 무관의 관복인 철릭을 모티브로 디자인한 철릭원피스, 트렌치코트같이 입을 수 있는 배냇저고리, 재킷으로 만든 연암김씨저고리 등 차이킴의 베스트셀러 아이템은 모두 이렇게 탄생했다.


여기에 본격적인 한복 디자이너의 길로 들어서기 전, 연희단거리패에서 연기했던 경력과 루이 비통 등의 패션 브랜드에서 커리어를 쌓은 경험은 지금의 차이킴을 만드는 데 결정적인 역할을 했다. 전통 복식에 대한 지식이 아무리 풍부해도 나만의 것으로 재해석하는 스토리텔링이 이루어지지 않는다면, 또 그것을 조화롭게 표현해낼 수 있는 패션 감각이 없다면 무의미하기 때문이다.


한불 수교 130주년을 맞아 지난해 프랑스 국립장식미술관에서 열린 전시에서 호평을 받은 이유 역시 차이킴 본연의 색이 분명하게 드러난, 전통 의상을 압도한 디자이너의 아이덴티티 덕분이었다. <보그>의 인터내셔널 에디터 수지 멘키스(Suzy Menkes)가 자신의 인스타그램에 김영진 대표의 사진을 올리며 “전통 의상인 한복을 계속 살아 숨 쉬게 하는 디자이너”라고 소개한 그대로다.


현재 한남동과 삼청동에 쇼룸을 두고 있는 차이킴은 이 외에도 부산, 광주, 제주 등 팔도 전역에 일종의 팝업 스토어 같은 유랑 매장을 열어 자유롭고 노매드한 감성을 전하고 있다. 사업을 키우기보다는 많은 사람을 만나고 사시사철 아름다운 자연을 보면서 세상을 보는 시각과 내면을 키우고 싶다는 김영진 대표는 몇 달 전, 유랑의 일환으로 제주도에서 ‘차이킴 & 차이 김영진’ 패션쇼까지 성공적으로 마쳤다.


올해의 계획은 한 번의 유행이 아닌 지속 가능한 브랜드로 차이킴의 가치를 더욱 공고히 하는 것. 미묘한 기품이 느껴지는 우아함부터 아방가르드한 스타일까지 다양한 ‘차이’가 존재하는, 무엇보다 패션을 사랑하는 이들이 열망하는 브랜드라는 것이 여느 생활 한복과 다른 차이킴의 차이다.
